Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

"Love the Way You Lie" is a song recorded by American rapper Eminem for his 2010 studio album Recovery. It was the second single from the album, released by Interscope-Geffen-A&M on August 9, 2010. It was inspired by American songwriter Skylar Grey's idea of being in an abusive romantic relationship with the music industry. After Eminem heard the demo track, recorded by Grey and British producer Alex da Kid, he wrote the lyrics and asked Barbadian singer Rihanna to sing the chorus. The recording sessions were held at Effigy Studios in Ferndale, Michigan, and Sun Studios in Dublin.

The video was watched 6.6 million times in the first 24 hours after its upload to VEVO, breaking a YouTube record for the most hits in one day. However, explicit and overt usage of imagery that suggested domestic violence caused an uproar. On AOL Music's list of the "Top 10 Most Controversial Music Videos in Pop", "Love the Way You Lie" was listed at number five. According to Fox News reporter Hollie McKay and the executive director of sexual assault and trauma resource center Day One—Stephanie Nilva—the video mainly raises "the topic of dating violence among young people" and teenagers. Nilva praised the clip for accurate depiction of patterns in an abusive relationship and said that its potency came from Eminem's history of violence-themed songs and Brown's assault on Rihanna.
