The competition test competitors' skills by seeing who can shave off the thinnest piece of wood possible.
It seems pushing the limits of one’s abilities with their tools in Japan is not only entertaining - but quite impressive!

In November 2012 the wood planing competition was held in the port city of Uwajima, on the island of Shikoku, and the thinnest shaving was only 9 microns thick. A micros is one-thousandth of a millimeter…Just to give you an idea of how impressively thin that is, the average human hair is 100 microns across, a cloud water droplet is 10 microns in diameter, and a human blood cell measures 8-9 microns. Even more incredible is the fact that the record for the thinnest shaving currently stands at 3 microns.

Man on Hoverboard To Circle Kaaba in Mecca

This video was originally posted on Facebook and is now viralling as it appears to show a man circling the Kaaba (the 'cuboid' building at the center of Islam's most sacred mosque) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on a hoverboard or hands-free Segway. The rider calmly hovers around the circle in a practice called Tawaf, which is an integral part of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca...




Fast Fact: The Tawaf ritual requires Muslims to circumambulate the Kaaba seven times, in a counterclockwise direction. The circling is believed to demonstrate the unity of the believers in the worship of the One God, as they move in harmony together around the Kaaba, while supplicating to God.

The Facebook user posted the following statement along with the video:

Fast Fact: Christ of the Abyss (Italian: Il Cristo degli Abissi) is a submerged bronze statue of Jesus Christ, the original of which is located in the Mediterranean Sea, which was placed there on August 22, 1954 and is approximately 17 metres depth, and stands c. 2.5 metres tall. It was sculpted by Guido Galletti, based on an idea of Italian diver Duilio Marcante. The statue was placed near the spot where Dario Gonzatti, the first Italian to use SCUBA gear, died in 1947. It depicts Christ offering a benediction of peace, with his head and hands raised skyward. Various other casts of the statue are located in other places worldwide, both underwater and in churches and museums.

Orange Oil Can Melt Rubber!

This vid with almost 3M views shows us 30 secs of what happens when Limonene, a colourless liquid hydrocarbon, an essential oil present in orange peels, comes in contact with rubber. It's also said to be flammable as you can actually start a fire - with an orange! (See the 2nd vid)...
