Guy Builds Tiny Home on the Street for Homeless Woman

“She’s a human being, 60 years old, a mother, a grandmother, sleeping in the dirt. It’s just not right.”That's coming from the guy who built this small home-on-wheels for a homeless woman. He is 37-year-old Elvis Summers and he is inspiring many.

Better known as 'Smokie', sixty-year-old Irene McGhee, lost her husband and later her home and has been homeless since. Summers befriended her over time when she would often visit his Los Angeles neighborhood looking for recyclables. He wanted to help her somehow.
He bought $500 worth of wood  and built her a small house. A local building supply company donated some siding and roof shingles.

Five days later, McGhee had a three-and-a-half-by-eight-foot house, she could call her home. Complete with a window and sturdy wheels to move it to different locations.

As for it being parked illegally on the streets, that's been taken care of too: “I had nowhere to really build it, so I just built it on the street outside my apartment. The LAPD have been super cool, and told me they support it as long as we move it to a different spot every 72 hours,” he explained.
