Dumbo Octopus in Action | Nautilus Live

Wow. Even the skin of this octopus looks kind of like an elephant's.  The Dumbo Octopus is named after Disney's famous elephant because of his unusually large fins looking like Dumbo's trademark ears. This cute, little octopus reminded us of the recent discovery of another cute, little (pink) octopus we posted about back in June, Opisthoteuthis adorabilis...

This Cirrate, or finned, octopods, can be divided based on their behavior. Some, like this one, spend a lot of time sitting on the bottom but sometimes gets up and swim by a combination of fin flapping and jellyfish-like pulses of the arms and web.
