Fascinating story! Can you imagine being aware of your surroundings but not being able to move or communicate it to anyone? That's what Martin Pistorius went through for 10 years! He was a healthy 12-year-old growing up in South Africa when he was diagnosed with a degenerative illness, he fell into a state where he was unable to move or communicate, even though he remained fully cognizant. It wasn't until 10 years later when his caregiver Virna van der Walt noticed that he could use his eyes to respond to things she said.
