Scary Marine Worm Shoots Out Spider Like Web

The vid is a short one but long enough to freak you out. It is said to be a marine worm, more precisely Nemertini worms, aka Nemerteans aka "ribbon worms" or "proboscis worms". 

They are very unusual animals, to say the least. (The last vid at the end explains more). The bodies of most nemerteans can stretch a lot, up to 10 times their resting length in some species, but reduce their length to 50% and increase their width to 300% when disturbed. 

The web-like substance that shoots out the worm as seen in this vid, is said to occur when the worm feels threatened or used to capture its prey. Either way, it's fascinating and 'eeeew' at the same time...
