Space firm creates ArcaBoard - a 'real hoverboard' - BBC News
A REAL hoverboard you say? Yup! Albeit, it's a bit cumbersome-looking but hey!, at least it has potential...
A US-based aerospace company says it has created a flying platform that lets its rider float above land and water. The aircraft has been dubbed the ArcaBoard - the firm appears to be avoiding calling it a "hoverboard" to avoid confusion with the controversial wheel-based vehicles. Since it posted a video showing several test flights, some news sites have questioned if the footage had been faked. But the man behind the project told the BBC that, apart from a little colour-correction, the video had been undoctored.

Holy Roller! Filipino priest delivers mass on HOVERBOARD
Only in the Philippines, lol.
Check out this singing priest making his way around the church floors on a hoverboard. Could this be the start of something new at masses? Probably not. The holy roller has been banned from the holy church for his holy carolling...

Man on Hoverboard To Circle Kaaba in Mecca
This video was originally posted on Facebook and is now viralling as it appears to show a man circling the Kaaba (the 'cuboid' building at the center of Islam's most sacred mosque) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on a hoverboard or hands-free Segway. The rider calmly hovers around the circle in a practice called Tawaf, which is an integral part of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca...
Fast Fact: The Tawaf ritual requires Muslims to circumambulate the Kaaba seven times, in a counterclockwise direction. The circling is believed to demonstrate the unity of the believers in the worship of the One God, as they move in harmony together around the Kaaba, while supplicating to God.
The Facebook user posted the following statement along with the video:

The Facebook user posted the following statement along with the video:
ROBO-HAJJ: Well. The rollerboard has gone from Wiz Khalifah & LA all the way to... Makkah. Is this how Tawaf will be done from now on? (I'm unsure what the theological decree is. The fatwa race is on!).

The Lexus Hoverboard: It's here
It's called the SLIDE and it's here. We've had our fair share of hoverboard-related articles on here but this one might just be the biggest yet from Lexus International, where Lexus Chief Engineer, Haruhiko Tanahashi, was quoted as saying on their website, “THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS IMPOSSIBLE, IT’S JUST A MATTER OF FIGURING OUT HOW”...
As the site explains:
The hoverboard is constructed from an insulated core, containing HTSLs (high temperature superconducting blocks). These are housed in cryostats - reservoirs of liquid nitrogen that cool the superconductors to -197°C. The board is then placed above a track containing permanent magnets. When the board is cooled to its operating temperature the track’s magnetic flux lines are ‘pinned’ into place, maintaining the hover height of the board.

Canadian Guy Wins Farthest journey by hoverboard - Guinness World Records
The machine for this real-life hoverboard was built and designed by Catalin Alexandru Duru himself, the guy who won the Guinness World Records Title for the Farthest Journey by Hoverboard. Yes, they have a category for that. He hovered a distance of 275.9 m (905 ft 2 in) at Lake Ouareau in Quebec, Canada on 25 August 2014. The distance is equivalent to roughly about two full-sized football pitches...
Catalin said:
The first real-life hoverboard. The machine was built and designed by me, Catalin Alexandru Duru. I am the first man to create and fly a working prototype.
I will showcase that stable flight can be achieved with a machine one can stand on and control with their feet, just like in the movie "Back to the Future Part II". In our case, the machine is propeller-based.
The prototype can be used anywhere, but is usually tested over water because of how dangerously high it can fly (which is ironic considering that the movie joked that it can't).

Hendo Hoverboard: The World's First Hoverboard
Check out this Kickstarter campaign vid by Hendo Hover of the world's first hoverboard.. which seems to only work on metal surfaces - but it's one step closer to the future...
Ladies and gentlemen, the world’s first hoverboard is here! Well, that is if you have $10,000 to spare, millions of dollars to pave your city’s streets in copper, and don’t put a high value on stability or safety.
Let me revise that first statement. If you want to experience the joy of friction-free motion in specially tailored environments (copper-lined skate parks, essentially), and have $10,000 to spare, then the world’s first hoverboard is indeed here. It’s called the Hendo — named after its inventor, Greg Henderson — and it uses the same kind of electromagnetic levitation that allows maglev trains to buzz through the countryside at 300 mph.

BELIEF
Real or not?? Either way, this viral vid as over 2 million views in under 2 days. Great footage of some real hovering, (or not), with a hoverboard called the Huvr.
