During a solo kayak trip, intended to go from from Ketchikan, Alaska to Petersburg, Alaska bear attacked my kayak. This incident occurred outside of a US Forest Service cabin in Berg Bay, Wrangell District, Alaska. I had just carried my tent, food, and all my gear into the cabin to dry while I went on a 4 mile hike that begins just behind the cabin. I heard something outside as I ate my lunch, and well, I never got to go on that hike. This video is taken 5 minutes after the attack began, he continued to gnaw on it for another 5 or 10 after the video ends. Shortly after the bear left and I drug the kayak back to the cabin door step. Then I swam to the S/V anchored in the bay. They did not have their radio on and I feared I would be stranded! The German flagged S/V Caledonia took me and my things to Wrangell but headed home to Ketchikan on the ferry Monday!

Bear Ran Over By And Pinned Under SUV Manages To Escape

Police are said to be looking for those involved with this bear incident that was partially captured on dash cam. The driver who ran over the bear with an SUV apparently fled the scene. Thankfully, the bear later managed to escape from under the vehicle and was understandably not too happy about the whole situation as you will see near the end...

The incident happened on the Kuril Islands, in Russia’s Far East.

The video is shot from a second car, where three people - two males and a female – were hiding. It is not clear how the SUV ran over the bear and if there are any people inside the vehicle.

The clip shows the animal’s attempts to escape from under the SUV and people commenting on it. One of the men asks for a knife to finish off the bear, while the other jokingly offers to rape the bear with a stick.

The footage has attracted the attention of the police, who have started a probe and will shortly make a decision on whether to launch a criminal animal cruelty case.
