Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know - Old School Computer Remix

Wow, not bad.  Not bad at all.  Gotye's song gets an old school makeover.  We like! We like!








HP Scanjet 3C as the vocals. It lags a bit due to the fast paced vocals. In order for the stepper motor to play a note it has to be moving and with that large carriage it takes a few milli seconds before it can play a note. It doesn't sound like a lot of time but stretch that over a 4 minute song and voila...out of sync. Programming does help to compensate but it is not perfect.

Both the Harddrive and Xylophone are controlled by one PIC16F84A mircocontroller

Reluctant as I am to add to the mountain of interpretations of Somebody That I Used To Know seemingly taking over their own area of the internet, I couldn't resist the massive remixability that such a large, varied yet connected bundle of source material offered.


All audio and video in Somebodies is from the YouTube user videos featured, each of them a cover or parody of Somebody That I Used To Know. No extra sounds were added to the mix, but I used some EQ, filtering, pitch-shifting and time-stretching to make the music.

Lol.  It started off a bit slow.. but then got better.  And, we have to agree when they say it's "Something we've all done."  We just wished they would have turned Left once in awhile, lol.
